ABOUT ME  & THE PIGEONS
Don't buy utility show pigeons and expect them to produce many squabs. Most show pigeons only produce a few young per year and are usually poor parents.  Many show birds stop incubating before the eggs hatch and/or stop feeding the young before they wean.  Breeders of show pigeons buy real squabbing birds to foster parent their show  pigeons.  Buy only  real working utility pigeons.

I am a retired wildlife biologist and I've bred pigeons since I was 10.  I've always liked  the true working squabbing/utility breeds more than the performing or show breeds.  I've bred utility silver kings and the utility white carneau.  Both of those breeds are good squab producers. But, I wanted a squabbing bird that was colorful.  So I began breeding utility kings in red and chocolate colors.  Red squabbing kings are uncommon, so it took a while for me to locate squab breeders who had a few red birds that I could purchase.  I bought red breeders from five different producers in four different states and started my breeding program in Spring 2010.  I am very happy with the production of these breeders and very pleased with the beautiful red color (I also have a few chocolate colored birds).  Quality pigeons always cost more.  The Palmetto Pigeon Plant sells their producing utility white king pairs for $80-85 and you must pay air freight to get them! The  Squab Producers of California do not sell breeding pairs to the public at any price and nor does Schuh Squab Farm.  I consider my birds to be of the same high quality (great health, high production & pleasing to look at), but at a lower price for a rarer breed of utility pigeon.  And, I ship by regular mail (US Postal Service). I am located in Round Rock, Texas and you can email me at lnarcisse@austin.rr.com or call 512-388-4641.  Thanks!
